Great Waters Expo in Minneapolis

Just got confirmed that I will be tying at the Great Waters Expo in Minneapolis on March 27-28.

Another batch of Orange Sherberts

Sold a bunch of these at the show on Feb 20, so I started tying another batch. I would like to get 30 or 40 in the bucket for the show in March if I go.

New pics

I had my dad help me take some new photos of the flies. He has expensive camera equipement and a light box he built. The flies look much nicer and are in way better focus that my point and shoot. We have a few more ideas to help overcome the large size of the flies.

Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association show-Feb 20

The HFFA show was a really good time. Met some new people, tied some flies. Got some invites from local people to go fishing this spring.

New Vise

Got a new Renzetti from my fly fishing buddy Dave, over at "www.tradenstuff.com." He has a huge inventory of new and used stuff that he sales on the internet.
I figure this blatant website plug is probably worth half off on a new Scott rod.

Peglusi Flies are Evil

Well, I don't really know what it is with these flies. I can tie them, but I just hate them. Not that they don't catch fish and look alright; I just hate them. I tied a few tonight just because. This one is about eight inches long.

Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association Show

Just got notified I will be tying at the HFFA show at the Clarion in Cedar Rapids on February 20. Looking forward to a good show and meeting some new people.

Schoolies

Been working on the schoolies with the tails again. Did a few in orange this time.

The problem with the tail is it pulls the material into the center and makes the fly top and bottom heavy. I will try with more stream lined bucktail.

Pictures

The biggest problem with big flies is trying to get good pictures with the entire body in focus. Black seems to work better for the colors, but I haven't found a great way with my shoot and click yet.

Great Waters Expo in St. Charles, Ill

Thanks to Bearfly for inviting me ( and the nice shirt), Mike and Bill for being my neighbors for the weekend and all the people who stopped by. I met a lot of great people and had a fabulous time. I will be looking forward to the next show.
