Got a 3 foot poster to hang behind me at the show.

Pike Musky Hog Fly part 2

Played with the large flies again tonight. This baby is about 4 inches high and about 14 inches long. Tied on a 9/0 again. The head on this fly goes almost to my elbow.

Finished off with half inch eyes and a coat of epoxy.

Pike Musky hog fly..chew on this

Had to order a new batch of hooks. They are now made in 5/0 nickle, green and red, 6/0 nickle and a whopping 9/0. I had to get a pack to try. This was a steroid version of my flies.

I will have to tie a few more monsters to try and refine it. I could have left three or four inches on the body material to make it larger. We will have to try. The 9/0 are in the lower left corner.

When I met John last year I don't think he had even taken a pike on the flyrod. Got him a bigger rod, some more atttitude, and wallah! It's a different feeling to know the fish you are targeting would see the local trout streams as a buffet! Nice.

Weekend Fishing

Had a great weekend. Fished Friday afternoon and rolled a few fish but non brought to hand. Fly fishing show on Saturday then a big steak at my fav restaurant. Sunday was the 1/2 day show again and then fishing again at the local haunt. Had the biggest pike of the year follow up to my feet on the first three casts of the day. Too bad the pike would not eat.
