Sunday on the River.

Pounded a few more smallies today. Lots of wind so we utilized the devil stick.

Look at this monster. That is a 2 inch crank bait.

Wolf Spider- These babies are all over the rocks on the river. About the size of a Pringles can lid. They make no webs but roam and hunt around the rocks.

Great night of poptential fish

Hit a local river last night and missed three big smallies and one nice pike. The river there is a large calm flat over big rocks and about three feet deep. The minnows were jumping as the big streamer pushed through the water. Then all the minnows for about a five foot circle exploded from the water. The water kinda dropped as the fish started kicking forward. You could see the bass's head pushing water as he headed forward towards the streamer. Two more strips and the water exploded. The bass grabbed the streamer and came out of the water for about two feet towards me. Quickly I tried to bring in the slack line. When the line got tight and I hammered on the fish, but nothing was there.
I fished him for another 15 minutes before moving on. I would have guessed him at five pounds. Two more big smallies followed and then the pike. I never did get a hook into any of the fish.
I plan on heading back down Tuesday night to hit them again.

Gale force winds on the river tonight so we took the bait caster.

No pike, but plenty of scrappy smallies.

Got the old bench going lately as the local rivers are hitting flood stage again.

Only 96 more to go before December.

New display flies.

Been tying some new samples for my tying bench at events. The beads on the hooks allow kids to pick them up and not get stuck. I also am adding a yellow and green to the school.

Keep your hands out of the gills!

There is no reason to shove your fingers into the delicate gills of fish. Seriously!

I love to take pictures as much as the rest of you, but let's not risk hurting fish to help glorify our own egos!
